Painter Patty Avalon

I use archival paints and canvases and panels, and varnish the paintings with UV protective varnishes. Sometimes they have a mat surface, sometimes satin. I use several brands and sometimes mix the media. (for example, I may use an acrylic undercoat and oil on top. I use big chunky brushes and very itty bitty ones, cheesecloth, gauze, and airbrush.

Tye River Pottery

Kevin Crowe / Tim Steinmann

Kevin Crowe and his apprentice, Tim Steinmann, make functional, wood-fired pots in the large anagama at Tye River Pottery. Please join us to see the pots from our March firing. New planters and vases are just in time for spring flowers, along with drinking vessels and serving dishes to grace your table.

Muddy Creek Pottery

Noah Hughey-Commers / Adam McNeil

Muddy Creek Pottery, located near Lovingston in Nelson County, provides the rustic Kilnshed Gallery in the same space that pots are made in a large, wood-fired anagama kiln.

Noah and Adam both make functional stoneware, dinnerware and vases. Their surfaces come from the natural ash glaze from the wood firing process.
